Outstanding success of FUTURETECH_H2 experience-sharing webinars in Spain and Portugal

The FUTURETECH_H2 project, co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A Spain–Portugal (POCTEP) 2021–2027 programme, has strengthened its role as a meeting point for advancing green hydrogen through two international webinars that brought together more than 100 participants from Spain and Portugal. Both sessions, held on March 3 and 26, confirm the growing interest of the Iberian industrial sector in this key technology for the energy transition.

Spain: real cases highlighting a sector in full consolidation

During the Spanish session, several companies from the H₂ ecosystem shared practical cases of industrial application of green hydrogen in sectors such as mobility, maritime, infrastructure, and aerospace. Contributions from ICM, Ghenova, Carburos Metálicos, and Aytana Aerospace & Defense demonstrated that this technology is steadily progressing towards real industrial deployment.

The event concluded with a B2B networking session, fostering direct interaction between speakers and participants and generating high-value collaboration opportunities.

Portugal: a clear view of hydrogen progress in real-world applications

The Portuguese session provided a very concrete and practical overview of green hydrogen development in the country, bringing together companies already working on integration into energy networks, storage, renewable production, and technological scaling.

Participants learned about key experiences such as hydrogen integration into the gas system presented by Dourogás Renewables; hydrogen as a distributed storage solution through the SHAREDH2 project by Areanatejo; advances in production and implementation in refuelling stations led by HyChem; and the role of the HyLAB ecosystem in bringing hydrogen technologies from research to industrial application.

Overall, the presentations reflected a dynamic Portuguese ecosystem, with solid projects and a clear focus on applied innovation.

A joint drive towards a more sustainable industry

The success of both events confirms that green hydrogen is already a driver of competitiveness and industrial transformation in the Iberian Peninsula. FUTURETECH_H2 would like to thank all the organisations and professionals who contributed to generating knowledge, cooperation, and strategic vision for the future of energy.
