On January 22, the event "Agrivoltaics Conference on the Iberian Peninsula: Innovation for a Sustainable Future" took place in Badajoz.
Bringing together over a hundred participants, the event welcomed policymakers, researchers, energy sector companies, farmers, and agricultural entrepreneurs from Portugal and Spain.
Throughout the conference, various topics related to agrivoltaics and its potential on the Iberian Peninsula were explored. Discussions covered the technical aspects of implementing these systems, assessing their performance in terms of both energy production and agricultural productivity. Additionally, the potential benefits for rural communities and biodiversity were analyzed.
The event also addressed different business models suitable for agrivoltaic projects, as well as regulatory aspects and financing opportunities. Representing CER-UÉ, José Silva emphasized the importance of defining success criteria when evaluating agrivoltaic projects. Meanwhile, Diogo Cordeiro (EDP-Produção), in his presentation on business models, showcased results from the OTGEN project, developed in collaboration with CER-UÉ.
