The 41st edition of the European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC) took place from September 23 to 27 in Vienna, Austria, bringing together participants from over 60 countries with a common goal: shaping the future of solar energy.
The Renewable Energies Chair at the University of Évora (CER-UÉ) was present at this event, which gathered researchers, industry experts, and policymakers, standing out as one of the world's leading meetings on solar energy and emerging technologies.
Helena Oliveira, a master's fellow at CER-UÉ, emphasized the significance of the event as a unique opportunity to update knowledge on the current state of photovoltaic energy in Europe. "The conference was a great opportunity to broaden the understanding of regulatory and investment needs, as well as the challenges faced by different countries in the solar sector," she stated.
Helena Oliveira was also the lead author of a paper titled "Design and Methodology for an Agrivoltaic Pilot Project in the Alentejo Region," which was accepted for presentation during the conference. She explained, "For this session, I used an explanatory poster to detail the project, which sparked discussions with several stakeholders interested in the topic."
The conference highlighted the key challenges for adopting photovoltaic solutions, emphasizing the importance of pursuing sustainability in its environmental, economic, and social dimensions, with a focus on ensuring the high performance of solar technologies in the future.
