Optimization of LFR solar concentrator presented at SYMCOMP 2021

The Renewable Energies Chair - University of Évora (CER-UÉ, Portuguese acronym) researchers André V. Santos and Diogo Canavarro are co-authors of the communication “Geometric optimization of linear Fresnel reflector solar collector using a genetic algorithm”, which will be presented at SYMPCOMP 2021 - 5th International Conference on Numerical and Symbolic Computation Developments and Applications, which takes place online, between 25 and 26 March.

In this article, written in collaboration with Sérgio Cavaleiro Costa and Isabel Malico (Department of Mechatronics Engineering - UÉ, and APMTAC - Portuguese Society for Theoretical, Applied and Computational Mechanics), and Fernando M. Janeiro (Department of Mechatronics Engineering - UÉ, and Instituto de Telecomunicações - IST), the optimization of a Linear Fresnel Reflector solar concentrator through a parallelized Multi-offspring Genetic Algorithm is presented.

This communication will take place in session V A: Simulation and Optimization of Fluid Flow, Heat and Mass Transfer, which will take place in Room A, starting at 10 am on March 26th. The complete program can be find on the website of the conference.

SYMCOMP 2021 is an ECCOMAS - European Community on Computational Methods in Applied Sciences thematic conference, organized and supported by APMTAC - Portuguese Society of Theoretical, Applied and Computational Mechanics, IDMEC/IST - Mechanical Engineering Institute/ University of Lisbon – Associated Laboratory for Energy, Transports and Aeronautics, ISEL / IPL - Lisbon Institute of Engineering, Wolfram Research, UÉ - University of Évora and Municipalitu of Évora, and seeks to bring together the academic communities involved in numerical and symbolic computing in various scientific areas, such as Engineering, Architecture, Economics , Statistics, Physics, Management, Mathematics or Education.
