Évora Molten Salt Platform
EMSP hydraulic circuit completed

The works on the Évora Molten Salt Platform (EMSP) hydraulic circuit were completed, at the end of July, with the completion of the pipe welding process, and with the performance of hydrostatic tests.

This construction phase, which was one of the technical challenges of the High Power Solar 2 (HPS2) project, was a responsibility of the Renewable Energies Chair - University of Évora (CER-UÉ, acronym in Portuguese), and aimed to connect the solar field to the energy storage tanks and the steam generation system, corresponding to the circulation routes of the molten salts.

After this phase of construction, the EMSP will now be subject to a new intervention, with the electrical tracing of the piping and the subsequent installation of thermal insulation.

This work is part of the HPS2 project, which intends to operate a cylinder-parabolic solar plant, using molten salts as a heat transfer and energy storage fluid.
