CER-UÉ collaborator defends thesis on direct solar radiation in Alentejo

The Renewable Energies Chair - University of Évora (CER-UÉ) collaborator, Afonso Cavaco, was approved with distinction and praise in the PhD exam in Earth and Space Sciences - Specialty in Atmospheric Physics, held on July 30th.

The thesis “DNI measurement and long-term prediction of its availability in the South of Portugal” addresses the measurement of direct solar radiation in Alentejo, with the aim of studying its average annual availability. This knowledge is fundamental to promote the production of energy through solar concentration technologies. The researcher also proposes methods to estimate direct solar radiation based on simpler and less expensive measurements.

Afonso Cavaco's thesis was supervised by Professors Manuel Collares (UÉ) and Paulo Canhoto (UÉ).
