#CityFromMyWindow campaign
POCITYF social media campaign in response to COVID-19

A “City From My Window” (#CityFromMyWindow) is the new campaign developed by POCITYF – A POsitive Energy CITY Transformation Framework project, in cooperation with the Lighthouse Smart Cities, as a response to the outbreak of COVID-19.

When many European citizens are forced to stay at home as a measure to fight coronavirus, the #CityFromMyWindow campaign asks people to take a picture of their cities, from the windows of their houses, and share it on social networks, using the hashtag #CityFromMyWindow when posting.

With this campaign POCITY project believes that this is a good way to stress the need to stay at home during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is also a way to help people to feel closer while social distancing measures, and to show cities from a different perspective with a range of unusual pictures.

POCITYF is a project funded by the European Union Horizon 2020 programme, which involves 46 partners from 13 countries, and which recognizes the urgency of making heritage cities more sustainable and resilient to climate change, improving the lives and well-being of its citizens.

The Renewable Energies Chair at the University of Évora is one of the partner institutions of the project, and the city of Évora is, together with Alkmaar (Netherlands), one of the two lighthouse cities where the development of areas with positive energy balance will be tested. The solutions found in these delicate contexts of historic sites, should be subsequently replicated by a set of six other cities: Granada (Spain), Bari (Italy), Celje (Slovenia), Ujpest (Hungary), Ioannina (Greece) and Hvidovre (Denmark).
