Collares Pereira distinguished as honorary member of the Mexican Academy of Energy

Manuel Collares Pereira, former head of the Renewable Energy Chair, coordinating researcher and professor at the University of Évora (CER-UÉ), with whom he maintains close contact, will receive the title of honorary member of the Mexican Academy of Energy, on January 16, in Mexico City.

The Mexican Academy of Energy is a non-profit civil association dedicated to the development of scientific and technological research in the area of ​​energy and the promotion and dissemination of knowledge about the processes of obtaining, converting, storing, distributing and using energy.

In the endowment, Manuel Collares Pereira will give the conference “Energy and Environment, in a World with a lot of people”, in a ceremony that is part of the 5th Anniversary of the Mexican Academy of Energy and that will take place at the Autonomous Metropolitan University. Earlier, on the 15th, at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, Manuel Collares Pereira will teach a course on Non-Imaging Optics, applied to solar radiation concentration, open to all engineering students and, two days later, on the 17th, will give a lecture on the latest advances in linear concentration for thermal electricity generation.

Master and PhD in Physics, University of Chicago, and Electrical Engineer, Instituto Superior Técnico, Manuel Collares Pereira is the current Chairman of the Board of the Portuguese Institute of Solar Energy (IPES) and collaborator of CER-UÉ. He was also a professor at Universidade Nova de Lisboa and Instituto Superior Técnico and principal researcher and coordinator at the Department of Renewable Energy, National Laboratory of Engineering and Industrial Technology (LNETI), National Institute of Engineering, Technology and Innovation (INETI) and National Laboratory of Energy and Geology (LNEG), and author of the book “Renewable Energies, the unavoidable option”.
